a magical time at Cinematique
Cinematique brought together our community in a celebration of joy, unity, giving and connection.
Hosted at the beautiful Evergreen Ballroom and Foyer at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue, we were positively overwhelmed by the interest in this year’s event, with over 300 families (1934 people) registered to take part in a magical day full of fun, family, and community with the same continued goal: to encourage and support foster and underserved youth in graduating from high school, pursuing higher education, and living a healthy lifestyle while using cinema as a fun holiday attraction.
Our registered and attending families reflected the diversity in backgrounds and needs of our community. A majority were from Seattle (roughly 25%) and Bellevue (roughly 19%), with additional representation from cities like Renton, Kent and Tacoma. Well over 75% of attending families identify as BIPOC and a large majority of these families are SNAP and EBT eligible.
Thanks to the incredible support of 38 collaborating partners and organizations, attendees had access to vital resources, lessons, services, and an array of exciting giveaways. Families walked away with amazing items such as movie tickets, Seattle Mariners merchandise, Amazon gift cards, Pacific Science Center memberships, and even Russell Wilson-branded airplanes!
The day’s energy was electrifying, with MC Nate Miles keeping us energized throughout the day. We even had special visits from Harry the Husky and even Santa himself! Their presence, along with the enthusiasm of our community partners, helped make the event truly magical.
Thanks to our partners and tabling organizations, families also took part in crucial medical services, including flu and COVID-19 vaccinations and health screenings, ensuring they could step into 2025 healthy and supported. Families enjoyed fun, engaging activities like cornhole, line dancing, musical chairs, and giant Connect 4, which brought people together in joy and laughter.
Over 30 volunteers made brilliant efforts to help bring Cinematique 2024 to life. Your time, energy, and dedication made it possible to create an event full of joy, resources, and connection for so many families. Thank you!
As we reflect on Cinematique 2024: Fostering Community and Connection, we are filled with gratitude and hope. Together, we’ve shared not just resources but also love, joy, and the promise of brighter tomorrows. Let’s carry this spirit forward into the new year and beyond.
Cinematique 2025 is planned for Sunday, December 14th. We hope to see you there!
